NewCastle Steel framing: the 50-year deck
We are proud to bring NewCastle Steel deck framing to the Wenatchee Valley, and it is the single biggest reason our decks outlast the ones built next door. Traditional pressure-treated joists start moving the day they are installed. They cup, twist, split and eventually rot where water sits at the ledger and the post connections, which is exactly where a deck fails first. Galvanized steel framing does none of that. It will not rot, warp, twist, split or burn, and it carries a lifetime structural warranty.
That matters here more than almost anywhere. Our summers bake exposed lumber, wildfire smoke and burn risk are a real part of valley life, and winter freeze-thaw cycles work moisture into every check and split in a wood joist. A non-combustible steel sub-structure sidesteps all of it. Steel joists also run dead straight, so capped composite boards lay flatter, fasteners stay tight, and you do not get the wavy, springy feel that shows up in a five-year-old wood-framed deck.

From there we lay out framing, stair runs, railing lines and lighting so the finished deck feels intentional rather than bolted on.
We handle the whole build. That includes footing layout and excavation, engineered post and beam sizing, ledger flashing and waterproofing details, framing in wood or steel, decking installation with hidden fasteners, custom stairs, and railing in cedar, powder-coated aluminum, cable or glass. How long does it take to build a custom deck?
Most residential decks in the Wenatchee Valley take one to three weeks of on-site work once materials are on hand, depending on size, height, stairs and railing detail. Design, material selection and permitting usually add two to four weeks before we break ground, so plan on roughly four to eight weeks from first conversation to finished deck.
Do I need a permit for a deck in Wenatchee or Chelan County?
Usually yes. Decks over a certain height above grade, decks attached to the house, and any structure with a roof generally require a building permit from the City of Wenatchee, East Wenatchee, or Chelan or Douglas County. We build to permit-ready plans and coordinate inspections so your deck is documented and code compliant.
What decking materials do you offer?
We build with capped composite, PVC, cedar and pressure-treated lumber, and we frame with either pressure-treated wood or NewCastle Steel. Railing options range from cedar and pressure-treated pickets to powder-coated aluminum systems from our partner Maisy Railing, plus cable and glass infill.
